PROJECT

-

The garden of this lakeside family home is defined by its steep incline: There is a 16-meter difference in height between the newly renovated house and the lakeshore, which significantly limited the usability of the yard. Further impacting the aesthetics of property, there were many overgrown trees and shrubs that shadowed and obscured the views of the lake.

Due to nature and landscape conservation legislation, the slope between the house and the lakeshore could not be terraced as originally intended. In response, lush planting beds with shrubs, perennials and ornamental grasses were used to structure the slope. A new path with feature lighting was integrated in the steps weaving down the slope to the shore.

New sitting areas were created where the terrain permitted. Timber screens were constructed, in addition to lush planting to give privacy to sitting and sun bathing areas.
